The Great Wall of China, Beijing, China

"He who has not climbed the Great Wall is not a true man" Mao Zedong.

The great wall of China built to protect the Qin rulers from Mongol onslaguht. Forced labour of one million people toiled hard when the population of China was only 2 million. The Wall starts at the shores of Pacific ocean on east and ends in Gobi Desert on the west. Now the wall is only of tourist interest as inner Mongolia has become part of China.
There are four different sites to visit near Beijing and we made it to the most visited and safe one.
The Great Wall, as we know it, is actually a series of several walls built at different times by different emperors. The categories below are non-exhaustive, and all refer to wall systems rather than single monolithic walls.
First Great wall - built by the Qin Dynasty 221-207 BC
Second Great Wall - built by the Han Dynasty 205-127 BC
Third Great Wall - built by the Jin Dynasty 1200 AD
Fourth Great Wall - built by the Ming Dynasty 1367-1644
